The story of Lakshman Kalupathirana
A few years ago, on a hike in Grampians , I met a gentleman named Henk Snijders and his lovely wife Yolanda.
What caught my eye wasn’t just the conversation ,it was what he was wearing.
A Sri Lankan cricket jersey π±π°
So I asked him, “Why Sri Lanka?”
What followed was not a casual answer… it was a story of purpose.
He spoke about his deep connection to Sri Lanka, the people, and something far bigger than travel — a mission to give families something most of us take for granted… a home.
Later, with few messages , we met again in Adelaide on the same trip after few days.
And that’s when I truly understood the scale of what he was doing.
Through House4SriLanka ,Henk and his Dutch friends have now built close to 60 houses for underprivileged families in Sri Lanka — giving them dignity, safety, and a future.
These are not just houses…
They are second chances.
Families living on barely a few dollars a day, in unsafe conditions, are now living in solid homes with water, electricity, and hope.
And what I admire most?
This is done with transparency, heart, and real impact — house by house, family by family.
I’m proud to say…
π I’m now part of this story too.
